WALKS

The Malt Shovel is ideally situated for a nice walk, followed by some excellent food and drink afterwards.

We have lots of space for car parking, and we are in the middle of the Mountgarret Estate, with its winding tracks and roads linking the farms and fields together. Most of the Estate is used by local farmers all year round, and there is plenty of wildlife –rabbits, pheasants, Red Kites (in abundance) and even the odd deer!

We have carefully put together a selection of maps, along with route guides, that you can print out at home, and bring with you to find your way around!

The majority of each route is off main roads, using local tracks and lanes (some are ancient paths that are the remains of trading link roads between all the villages round here).

With varying distances, there should be something to suit you, but if you would like a longer walk planning – please email us and we can have a look at it for you.

You can reserve a table for after your walk on 01423 862 929 or through the website, or just email us. If you would like to use our car parking facilities – please feel free to do so, and you can park any time after 10am.

We have regularly catered for large walking groups, so if you have a large party of walkers looking for a decent walk and lunch after then you have found the right place! For parties of 8 or more, we would appreciate at least 24 hours notice, so we can get everything ready for you.
